Curves

Do these buttons make my curves look fat???

Curves was the order of the day for the CAS challenge over at SCS. How appropriate....as I'm a curvy girl!!

This was such a fun card to make! All these curves that are "in" right now are new to me though, I must admit! I used my Creative Memories cutting system, with the curved cutting thingamajig (love that word), works perfect for this. The paper (which I'm in love with) is the Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly which I got over at Limelight - did I mention I love this paper?
Since it was a CAS challenge, I just plopped on some buttons, did a little distressing on the edges, did some piercing and added the sentiment from PTI's Vintage Baskets. I got it to curve, by simply moving it around a little on the acrylic block....go ahead, try it with some of your clear stamps, its pretty cool!

Stamps: PTI Vintage Baskets
Paper: Blue Bayou, CC Jolly by Golly
Ink: Memento Black
Misc: piercer, buttons, distressing stuff, twine

Today is a sketch day over at Limelight.....and be sure to check out the MAJOR sale that Mandy has going on!!!

Just enter NOEL at checkout and receive 20% off of your entire order! Yeh, you heard me right....20%!!!!

The sketch for this week is:

What a fun sketch huh?? Glitter is the order of the week as well, so go ahead load it up.

The Details:**Use the sketch provided and the focus is on GLITTER!
**Key word for SCS upload is LLPC036
**Post a comment with a link to your card on
Mandy's blog by Sunday, Dec 13 at midnight (or before winner is drawn Monday a.m.).
**PRIZE ~ a container of
Stampendous Apple Red glitter AND a container of Moonstone Sparkle Fibers!!(Winner is chosen randomly from all participants.)

Although I don't have a huge aversion to glitter....I must confess that I'm a little paranoid about it, so I don't own any! *gasp* Sooooo....since I'm such a rule follower, I had to get lots of sparkle on my card. You'll notice in each of the scallops there is a dot of Diamond Stickles! I also traced the Happy Birthday with a stardust pen. Then to really set it off I spritzed it (3 times to be exact) with the Babys Breath Glimmer Mist. If you don't have glimmer mist....you must check it out - especially with the 20% off sale going on! My paper I used comes from the Cosmo Cricket - Jolly by Golly line...another of your must haves!!

Countdown to Christmas in the Limelight

I am so excited to be the Guest Designer this month at Limelight....thank you so much Mandy!

The project challenge at Limelight was to make a calendar or a countdown project of some kind. I couldn’t stop at just one, so I have 2 projects to share with you today.

The first thing I’d like to share is a calendar project. We had leftover magnetic calendars from 2009 at my work, and they were going to be thrown out. I snagged them and brought them home…knowing I could use them for something! I used some Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket paper to cover the calendars. I then downloaded a 3 x 5 calendar at http://www.calendarsquick.com/printables/free.html cut them out and put them on the front! Quick and easy calendars to hand out to friends/family. Perfect for the fridge, and with all the Basic Grey/Cosmo Cricket that Mandy has over at LL, there is a color scheme for everyone!

Now I’d like to share my countdown till Christmas project. I’ve been seeing some of these blocks around the internet and thought I’d take a stab at it.

The blocks are 1-1/2” x 1-1/2”. First I cut out some Basic Gray Wassail paper in the sizes I’d need. I then used mod podge to cover my blocks and then put the paper on, then mod podged over the paper. I let that dry and then sanded the edges with a nail file. I then used my soft suede ink pad and a sponge and smeared that on all of the corners….I love that vintage look.

The next step took some thinking, and that was figuring out what numbers needed to go onto each block. I eventually found it on the internet (didn’t save the link though to give credit)….anyways….on 1 block you need 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and on the other block you need 0, 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9….make sure you use a 9 that can be used as a 6 also!!! That is very important.

The little wooden holder was also covered with BG Wassail paper….and I used the soft suede to make it look stained…..that was much easier than painting or staining it. I decided to take advantage of my full jar of burgundy buttons and I put them all along the top. I am just tickled to death with how this turned out. The sentiment on the front was computer generated.

Make sure to stop by the other design team members blogs to check out their projects for today!

A Double Challenge Card

This is a double challenge card from over at SCS. I loved yesterdays color challenge but just never got around to playing last night. It was just one of those days and when I got home, I zonked out. In fact, I almost fell asleep while getting my hair cut!!!

So when I saw todays sketch....this vision appeared in my head immediately. Now....I don't normally picture things in my mind before I make them. Normally they way I'm wired is.....I see a challenge, and I just run with it, and what you get is what you get. Not today though! And the best thing, is that this is exactly how it was in my mind!!! I used tons of layers on this and love how it turned out.

Ok, so I totally had to try and get a close up of all these layers.....aren't they luscious???

Gina K Designs Customer Blog Hop

Well how cool is that? Gina K is having a customer blog hop! All you gotta do is make a project/card with one of her newest releases and link it to her blog....and you are good to go. I decided to try something a little different tonight....so I pulled out a frame I had gotten at the Dollar Tree....hope you like! I used the Festive Frame set, colored with copics, cut it out, matted it a little, and viola! Other than my crappy picture...it doesn't look too bad.

Unity Friday!

Today is another Friends With Flair Friday over at Unity. Make sure to check out all of the blogs for your chance to win some Unity stamps!

I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card for todays post, and I knew I wanted to use some of my new Jolly by Golly Cosmo Cricket paper from over at Limelight.

So I stamped the poinsettia from Hodge Podge of Happiness, and then cut it out. Next, I glued it onto a piece of black paper and then cut that out, leaving a very small amount of black around the flower. I then wanted to emboss it, so using my versafine pad, and some clear embossing powder, I got it all ready to emboss and fired up the heat gun. What happened next had me puzzled for a few minutes....because it was turning fuzzy and falling off instead of melting like it should have. So as I assessed the situation and tried to figure out what in the world made my embossing powder fuzzy.....it was then that I realized I was trying to emboss glitter!!! Sooooo....I brushed off my fuzziness, and tried again...this time actually using embossing powder. This time it worked, and I hope you enjoy my card.

Christmas Gift Set

So I got this idea that I wanted to alter a travel coffee mug. So I went out on my lunch break in search of one today. Jackpot at the Dollar Tree!!! So of course, I bought more than 1!

All I had to do was unscrew the top, cut the paper to the correct size and slip it in!! Piece of cake. That paper has got to be one of my favorites....its Basic Grey - Wassail. I then covered a mini composition book with the same paper, and took a piece and put it into the barrel of an RSVP pen. To finish off my gift set, I made a matching card. The buttons are also from BG.

The paper and buttons can be purchased at Limelight I prefer the 12 x 12 papers for altering things, but prefer the 6 x 6 pads when doing cards. The images are scaled down for the smaller pages. Although on this card, I did use the 12 x 12 paper.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Busy Productive Weekend

My sister came to town Friday and we had so much fun! We went out to dinner Friday evening with 2 of my super bff's! Saturday we got to work! We made our Christmas cards, which amounted to about 60-70 cards, we made breast cancer awareness cards to send to our friends, plus a few other misc cards. We made cancer bracelets for our family, along with a bookmark that detailed what all of the colors stand for.

Of course, we had to make our yearly double batch of homemade french vanilla hot chocolate mix....we double the recipe and then it calls for 21 cups of powdered milk....(thats quite a visual huh). The cute little bags in the right hand corner are for single servings of it, there is a label on the back saying what it is and how to make it.

We also covered about 5 composition books and a sketchpad for my niece, oh and we made each of my nieces 2 bracelets.

It was a crazy busy weekend, but it was so much fun!
